有一次兩人一起上節目，王二妮回憶道：「和大衣哥一起錄節目前，大衣哥就給我看他手機，讓我發現亮點，剛開始我還以為是看手機的牌子、短信之類的，後來他才說看我手機裡今天收入多少錢，卡上餘額多少錢」。網友都說這無疑是在向王二妮炫富啊！
主持人也問出了大家的心聲：「為什麼要跟王二妮炫富呢」？朱之文老實的回答：「以前窮怕了，現在收入高了感到很自豪，希望大家能看到」，這話說的確實實在，誰都想別人看到自己的能力，與其說這是在炫富，倒不如說是互相激勵，給自己自信！
那麼朱之文最窮的時候是什麼樣的呢？朱之文在曾經的一檔節目中透露：「20多天就只有一塊五毛錢（以人民幣計算，以下同），買點鹽，下地摘點蘿蔔拌著吃」，農民出身的朱之文也確實吃了不少苦，沒成名前，把賣糧食的錢加上打工的錢加在一起，一年到頭收成好時也才五千，收成不好時也才3000左右，過個春節就剩下幾百、幾十塊。
而成名後的朱之文，回家收麥子也是坐飛機回去，雖說有錢了，但是仍然不忘記一個農民的本分，還給家鄉修路，置辦健身器材，大概花了100多萬，這在草根歌手中已經算是非常有良心的了，村民卻不念著好，說：「想要俺誇他，每家每戶都給買個小轎車，再給個一萬塊」！
人紅是非多，朱之文成了村裡的首富，前來借錢的絡繹不絕，有工作人員爆料朱之文一年的保底收入在1600萬，這也是很有可能的，一場商演就20萬，參加80場就有這個收入，而去年朱之文參加的商演就有200多場，去掉支出，1600萬不算個天文數字。
朱之文向王二妮「炫收入」，殊不知王二妮現在可是比朱之文還要紅，年收入甚至比朱之文還要可觀，不僅給男友買了豪車，辦了婚禮，更是在北京買下豪宅，據悉，還贈送了數套房產給父母，也算盡孝了。
「草根明星」出身農村並不是什麼丟臉的事情，但是人要是出名後忘了本就難免被吐槽了。
